A handfasting ceremony is a very popular ritual symbolising the binding two lives into one. It can be a very graceful and meaningful way to express the commitment to each other.

Couples can personalise their handfasting cords with sentimental fabrics, charms, or natural elements like flowers and vines and other family members can be involved too.

A Quaich ceremony is a traditional Scottish ritual usually carried out after you have signed your marriage schedule. symbolises your trust in each other, drinking your chosen drink or 'tipple' from the Quaich.

Usually, one of your wedding party pours the 'tipple' into the Quaich, another presents it to one of the couple who then drinks using both handles, before passing it to the other — drinking the same drink from the same Quaich, signifies trust in each other.

Unity Candle

Candles & Plants

A Unit Candle / Ceremony is the bringing together of two families into one. A member of both families light a taper candle each, and bring them together lighting a pillar or 'Unity' candle, which remains lit throughout the ceremony.

This is a lovely way to start your wedding ceremony by uniting both sides of the family. Sometimes a lovely way for the mums / dad's etc. to show of their lovely outfits too!

Personalising Your Ceremony

There are so many ways and other elements you can include in your wedding ceremony which can make it both personal and unique. You can explore social media or the internet for lots of ideas.

It is worth noting though, it might be best to choose two or three rather than many more so that your ceremony doesn't become cluttered or tacky! Sometimes less is more! Ultimately, it's your choice and I'll be happy to help you with whatever you'd like to include!
